Bruce Giving Back

Mr. Blais is active in a number of activities at church, in his profession and with his recreation. These are briefly described below.

Church

Bruce is active in the church, both at the parish and diocesan level. He is a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Dallas and is active in many parish activities, particularly the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, the church's men's group. He is a past Vestry member and has served on various committees and service projects.

At the diocesan level, he is a Vice President and webmaster for the Dallas Assembly of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. The assembly is the "umbrella" organization serving all of the parish chapters. The Assembly coordinates various service projects including its premier project of building a Habitat home each year. In 2009, the Brotherhood built its 14th home. Profession

Mr. Blais has been active in IEEE activities since 1974 and attained Senior Member Status in 2000. He helped established the Dallas Consultant's Network and held various positions as an officer or board member, including Chairman. He was named Engineer of the Year by the Orlando Section Consultant's Network in 1994, and by the Dallas Section Consultant's Network in 1999 and 2002.

Mr. Blais also serves on the Electrical Examination Committee of the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) as an examination volunteer. In that capacity he is part of a group of engineers writing examination questions and reviewing exams for the non-power electrical module used by the State Engineering Boards to license Professional Engineers.

Other

On the recreational side, Mr. Blais is active as a volunteer in the Dallas Off Road Bicycle Association (DORBA). He is a ride leader and serves as a volunteer during the races of the NTX-XC series.
