FAMILY Events

The links on this page take you to the various events around the Blais household over the years. These include funerals, births, weddings, birthdays, outings and similar things that make up family life for them.

 

The page for 2021 has been started. So far there is New Year's Day and the trip to Florida for my uncle's funeral.

 

2020 was a very interesting year as we all know. In addition the to the pandemic, Betsy had her car totaled, got her first great-grandchild and raised butterflies. Bruce started back into mountain bike racing and became the 2020 Texas state champion for the 70+ age group. He also completed several "construction" Projects around the house.

In 2019, Bruce and Betsy saw some live theatre, had the fence and deck restored and took a long weekend trip in the camper to Fredericksburg. They also took a trip to Florida, stopping by New Orleans along the way. The big news was the Richardson tornado which missed their house by only three blocks.

A lot of exciting things happened in 2018. Bruce was working at NASA in Houston and had family and friends visiting. They made a camping trip to Tyler to visit the rose center, and Betsy traveled to Italy with her son, Tim. They got a new smoker and visited Fredericksburg.

2016 was another year of changes. In addition to the birthdays and holiday celebrations, Bruce started a new job with a global radio communications company. He moved the trailer from Denver to Houston and made made a number of RV camping trips in the Texas Hill Country.

This was quite a year. In addition to the usual events and outings, Betsy finished chemo and was in full remission.
 

Bruce was traveling for work this year, so there was not to much activity other than holidays and birthdays. He was working in Denver, so there was a lot of mountain biking done in Colorado, as well as several trips out by Betsy. Here are links to the Colorado Vacations and Mountain Biking pages.

This year was pretty busy. It included visits by relatives, events in town, the deck was rebuilt and irrigation system began the transition from spray heads to drip lines.

There was a lot happening in 2012. This includes the normal birthday and holiday parties, plus trips to the Arboretum for the Chihuly Glass exhibit, the Impressionist Exhibition at the Kimble, the Parker County Peach Festival in Weatherford and the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibition.

This was a rather typical year around the Blais household. Birthdays, holidays, etc. The big event was the grandkids trip to Vegas, Zion, Bryce, the Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater and Hoover Dam. That "event" will be put up in the Vacation section of this website shortly.

The weather was the big news kicking off 2010. Check out all the snow. It was a record year

Just the usual stuff - lots of holiday and birthday parties. A couple of milestones were reached. Zach hit 50 and Ilse hit 80.

More of the usual stuff - holiday and birthday gatherings and other outings, including Derby Day at Lone Star Park with Ron & Deb.

In addition to the usual birthdays and holidays, 2007 included a trip to Ennis for the bluebonnets and our oldest grandson's graduation.

Here are a few of the notable events from 2004. They include a trip to Ennis for the Bluebonnet Festival and the snow days we had that year.

In 2003 Bruce and Betsy a potpourri of things going on including: A trip to Pebble Beach to visit Betsy's aunt Jane, grandson Bret playing Little League, Ariana & Alissa playing soccer, a trip to Fayetteville for the Florida-Arkansas game.

Here are a few of the notable events from 2001. They include a visit to the State Fair of Texas with Mike and Nikki, a family gathering in Florida and an ice storm in December.

This was a very busy year. In addition to the routine events, it also included births, visits from distant relatives, funerals and several excursions. This year, the photos were scanned from the family albums Betsy had been maintaining.
